Roast: Medium
Let’s be clear: this Colombian coffee is as smooth as Escobar would’ve been if he had just focused on coffee instead of, well, everything else. Grown by smallholder farmers in the highlands of Medellín (the city, not the other kind of business), this coffee brings together dried orange, berry, and chocolate notes for a cup that’s smoother than a clean getaway.
Sitting pretty at 1300–1500 meters above sea level, this coffee grows in volcanic loam soil — nature’s version of an all-inclusive spa retreat for coffee beans. The process is as simple and clean as possible: fully washed, dried in solar dryers, and protected from rain, so it’s basically the opposite of anything that happens in the world of cartels.
Castillo, Caturra, Colombia, and Typica varieties combine for a medium roast that’s rich, bold, and requires no illegal activity to enjoy. Sip it slowly, appreciate the clean, nuanced flavors, and for once, just enjoy your coffee without feeling like you need a bodyguard.
